Are We Alone? A Journey Through the Search for Life in the Universe
Are we alone in the universe? It’s one of humanity’s oldest and most captivating questions—and today, science is closer than ever to exploring it.

Join astrophysicist Eleni Chatzichristou for an engaging afterwork talk that blends cutting-edge research with big-picture curiosity. Discover how scientists detect distant planets that could host life, what “biosignatures” reveal about alien worlds, and why places like Mars and the icy moons of Jupiter and Saturn continue to fascinate researchers.
From extreme environments on Earth to the far reaches of space, this talk will uncover how we search for life beyond our planet—and what that search reveals about ourselves. Along the way, we’ll touch on critical thinking in an age of pseudoscience, and even explore the surprising connections between astronomy, imagination, and music.
Expect an inspiring, thought-provoking evening that will expand your perspective on life, the universe, and everything in between.

Cosmic Quiz Night
To make the evening even more engaging, expect a few fun interactive moments, including quick quizzes and playful challenges with prizes for the winners.
